How do I perform an update?

Step 1: Check internet connection

First, check if the Tactonom Reader Flex is connected to WLAN or a network cable.
To check the WLAN connection, go to: Settings/System/WLAN connection check and confirm this with Enter.

You should now hear the name of the connected WLAN network. If you hear the announcement: “Not connected”, first connect the Tactonom Reader Flex to a WLAN or a wired network.

Step 2: Perform update

Go to “Settings/System/Check for updates” and confirm this with Enter. If you hear the message “New updates have been downloaded…”, restart the device.

In the menu, go to “Shut down.” After the Tactonom Reader Flex has completely shut down, you can start it by pressing the Enter key. Repeat the update steps to check if further updates are available.

The graphic is not being read.

The system says that the graphic cannot be opened.

In this case, it is a graphic that is not yet in the device’s internal memory.
The Tactonom Reader tries to retrieve it from the internet but is not connected to the internet. Please connect to the internet or download the graphic as an archive from www.problind.org and read it via USB stick.

The graphic is already in memory.

Another cause could be that the QR code or the control marks are damaged. In this case, reprint the graphic.

Changes to my graphic are not being read.

Please delete the old version via Settings/General/”Delete file from temporary memory” for each change to a graphic. Then reload via “New Page”.

Why are the control marks not found?

When reading a graphic, the camera’s view of the control marks must be unobstructed. With this message, the mentioned control mark was covered by the hand or other objects. Please reload the graphic.

Alternatively, the position of the camera arm may not be ideal. Please adjust the angle of the camera arm so that the arm is actually locked in the topmost position. Also, ensure that external light sources do not affect the touch surface.

The QR code is not recognized.

Please check if the QR code is undamaged.

If the QR code is damaged, the graphic must be reprinted. Alternatively, only the QR code can be printed and attached to the graphic. In this case, make sure that the QR code is the identical size. Do not attach the code with adhesive tape, as this may reduce readability.

Please check the print image of the Tactonom Reader.

This must be identical to the print preview in the online database www.problind.org. When printing, make sure that the scaling is 100% and that it is printed borderless.

Do not print swell paper with an inkjet printer.

The result is too blurry. Always print with a laser printer.

Do not print DIN A3 graphics in DIN A4 and then enlarge them to DIN A3 using a copier.

This can distort the graphic and it will not be recognized by the Tactonom Reader Flex.

The system only says ‘The file’.

This is an announcement error of an old software version.

Actually, the announcement should be: ‘The file associated with this QR code could not be loaded.’

This is an indication that there is no connection to the internet.

And the file therefore cannot be loaded. Please check the internet connection. Additionally, please download the current language version. You can find this in the last entry in the System submenu. System: Update language files

Can I connect braille displays to the Tactonom Reader Flex?

Currently, this is unfortunately not yet possible.
However, we are working on it and will offer a solution very soon.

I don’t have a way to print graphics. Where can I get them?

Please contact us via info@inventivio.com. You can order graphics directly from Inventivio.

Can I print my graphic from the browser?

Graphics downloaded as PDFs can also be printed from the browser.

Make sure to print the file borderless and at 100% original size.

For graphics downloaded in SVG format, this leads to distortion when printing and the graphic is not recognized. These graphics must be printed exclusively directly from the graphics program.

Does the Tactonom Reader Flex support braille printing?

Braille graphics can also be accessed on the Tactonom Reader Flex.

The prerequisite is that these are created in ProBlind format and uploaded to the “Share” database.

Each graphic can be printed in both a swell and a braille version.

And this is how it works: For braille printing, select the download for “Braille embossing print”. In the dropdown menu, select your braille printer and check the braille optics of the graphic in the preview.
The downloaded file can then be printed.
You need stickers from our Linking Set for Braille Print Graphics.

Stick 4 markers and one QR code onto the braille graphic. Position the markers in the four round shapes in the corners, and the QR code in the square shape at the top right.

Place the graphic on the Tactonom Reader Flex.

Select “New Page” via the main menu. The Tactonom Reader Flex recognizes that the QR code must be linked to the corresponding digital file in the “Share” database. Therefore, it automatically checks the database (internet connection required) for graphics downloaded for “Braille embossing print” in the last 60 minutes. Use the “Next” and “Back” buttons to select the correct graphic and confirm the selection with the “Enter” button. Now this QR code will work on all systems.

Which formats are available on the Tactonom Reader Flex?

All graphics created in ProBlind format and uploaded to the “Share” database are also compatible with the Tactonom Reader Flex.

On share.problind.org there are graphics in the formats DINA3, DINA4, US-Letter and US-Tabloid
