WiFi network setup

The Tactonom™ Reader supports the WPA-EAP protocol. However, it must be configured for the specific design of your WPA-EAP network. Usually this requires the assistance of a network administrator who is familiar with the details of your WPA-EAP configuration. This is especially true for WPA-EAP in the context of EDUROAM.
On the Linux system that the Tactonom™ Reader uses, configuration is done via the following two Linux specific configuration files.
/etc/network/interfaces and /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf.

The certificate telesec.xxx, which is often used in WPA-EAP configurations, is already installed on the Tactonom™ Reader:

  • Download the two files interfaces.txt and wpa_supplicant.txt.
  • Now edit the file wpa_supplicant.txt and enter the data of your network configuration.
  • Copy these files to the root directory of a USB stick.
  • Insert the USB stick into the USB port of the Tactonom™ Reader. This is located on the rear left side of the device.
  • Go to the main menu and navigate to the settings. Under the setting "System" you can load the WLAN configuration from the USB stick in the menu item of the same name. The Tactonom™ Reader is now loading these two files and transferring their content to the interface and wpa_supplicant.conf files.
  • Switch off the Tactonom™ Reader via the main menu. After switching off, you can remove the USB stick.
  • The next time the Tactonom™ Reader is turned on, the system will be connected to the specified WLAN.
